Implant Dentist Darren Bywater BDS, BSc (Spec Dual Hons), M.Med.Sci (Oral Surgery), DipImpDent RCS (Eng)

Dr Darren Bywater graduated from the Royal London Hospital in 1996 with BDS. He then embarked on an advanced surgical and restorative dental training programme at the National Trauma Centre in Stoke-on-Trent and the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield. It was here that Darren was awarded the Masters of Medical Science in Oral Surgery.

Darren then embarked on a career in General Dental Practice bringing his advanced surgical and restorative skills to ultimately all of his patients at Duffield Road Dental Care.

Darren has always been committed to further postgraduate education and to the highest standards of clinical care. This is no less seen in the discipline of Dental Implantology. Darren has carried out Dental Implantology for the last 5 years restoring missing single teeth, multiple gaps with implant retained bridges and stabilising loose dentures.

Darren has recognised that to carry out Implantology to a high standard, and to meet the new General Dental Council requirements on ‘Implant Training for General Dental Practitioners’, appropriate training is required.

Therefore, Darren embarked on the widely acclaimed ‘Gold Standard’ qualification in Dental Implantology hosted by The Royal College of Surgeons of England. Darren was successful in attaining this qualification at the first sitting this year.

One of the very few dentists, internationally, to hold this qualification, he is now a course tutor and mentor for the Diploma in Implantology for the Royal College of Surgeons of England International Training Programme, providing teaching both in England and Germany.

Darren also inspects other dentists and their dental practices in Great Britain and Europe for their suitability to carry out the practice of Dental Implantology. This ensures that the rigid criteria set by the Royal College of Surgeons for Dental Implantology is maintained.

Darren is now also able to carry out advanced bone augmentation procedures within the practice under sedation for patients with minimal bone volume. This allows those patients who initially thought they could not have an implant, to proceed with implant treatment.

Darren has successfully treated hundreds of Full Cosmetic Makeovers as well as restoring gaps with Dental Implants. In line with his ethos of high standards and quality dentistry, Darren has embarked on a further qualification in Restorative Dentistry specialising in Advanced Aesthetic/Cosmetic rehabilitation of patients. Wherever possible, minimally invasive dentistry i.e. toothwhitening and white composite restorations, are used to restore the patients perfect smile. However veneers, crown and bridgework will be carried out, without the unnecessary destruction of healthy teeth.

In summary, Darren’s recognised complete training in Dental Implantology and Cosmetic Dentistry ensures that all of his patients are receiving their treatment to the highest ethical standards as judged by the Royal College of Surgeons.
