Specialist in Oral Surgery

Conor Donegan graduated from the Dental School at Trinity College, Dublin University in 1992 (BA, B.Dent.Sci). After a year in Vocational Training in Leicester, he moved to a post in Maxillofacial Surgery at the George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton for 4 years. During this time he was admitted as a Fellow in Oral Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons (FFDRCSI). He then undertook monospeciality training in Periodontics (specialising in the advanced treatment of Gum Disease) and was awarded a Masters Degree in Restorative Dentistry (MMedSci) at Sheffield University in 1997.

In recognition of his Commitment to Continuing Postgraduate Education, Conor was admitted to the Specialist Lists held at the General Dental Council (Off site link opens in a new window). He is a dual Specialist in Periodontics and Oral Surgery . The ‘Specialist’ title is used when a higher degree of training and experience in that particular field of dentistry is recognised by the General Dental Council.

Since moving to Derby, Conor has received well over a thousand referrals from dentists throughout the East Midlands, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and North Warwickshire. He provides a full spectrum of services for the advanced treatment of Gum Disease.

These include diagnostics and treatment planning, to the most advanced, regenerative and periodontal plastic surgery procedures. Conor is particularly interested in the regeneration of lost bone and its uses in supporting teeth that have a poor outlook. He has successfully used these grafting techniques where gum recession has caused cosmetic problems. The gum tissue graft replaces missing gum tissue which improves cosmetics and appearance. In addition to this, Conor provides advanced cosmetic dentistry in restoring your natural smile. His background in restorative dentistry allows Conor to provide a unique breadth and depth of expertise in cosmetic dentistry. This is achieved by advanced dentistry techniques including full-mouth reconstruction using crowns, bridges, veneers and toothwhitening.

Conor lectures throughout the UK and is currently involved in presenting courses for dentists and hygienists in conjunction with the South Yorkshire & East Midlands Postgraduate Dental Office (Off site link opens in a new window) . These include evening lectures and hands on day courses for the surgical and non-surgical management of gum diseases.

Conor is married to Sarah and has 3 boys. He would like to go the gym and play golf but spends much of his spare time at play centres in Derby!
